Here we have a simple, quick story of what Kobe and Michael Jordan did to each other during their NBA tenures. They didn't play against each other for nearly long enough, but this story makes up for it. If you use social media, and happen to have a lot of NBA videos pop up for you, there's a chance you've seen some ridiculous Kobe stories which shows you his greatness and his understated psychotic and insane will to win. If you haven't seen any, then I will tell you one that I have seen over and over to prepare you for my story. Kobe was being asked questions shortly after his retirement and was giving answers that so many NBA fans had been waiting to hear as Kobe really took the time to educate everyone in this time. At one point, Kobe was asked what he listens to as pregame music, and he gave the most Kobe Bryant answer ever. He used to listen to the Halloween theme music on repeat before signature games to get in the zone and enter his killer instinct. “It was important that it was Michael Myers, because the mask itself was the void of emotion." I mean, who does that?!?
There is a video of Gilbert Arenas telling this story as he is the only one who revealed this story. In my opinion, that's the coolest aspect of these stories, where we're getting them from and how do they know? We wouldn't know about this if Gilbert Arenas decided to shut up and end the podcast. Anyways, he begins by pointing out that this story "stamps what we already knew". Michael Jordan was in his last few years in the NBA, this is known as "father time catching up", and he was playing his buddy Kobe. MJ is guarded by Kobe, hits a tough shot then hits him on the backside and tells him, "You can wear the shoes, but you can never fill them." I mean, that's not nice Michael. Little bit uncalled for, wouldn't you rather people wear your shoes than not Michael!? I digress. It's unclear who Gilbert Arenas is referring to as a source, but he says, "They say Kobe didn't say a word to to his team for literally 2 whole weeks. At some point, members from the team asked Phil Jackson, Kobe and the team's coach, "Is Kobe mad at us?" Then Phil explained what MJ said to Kobe, and they responded saying they'd be sorry for Jordan the next time they play each other.
"Like, he just went silent, but he was on one million.... He didn't even have to tell his teammates," Arenas continued. "They said they knew what would happen when Jordan came to LA.... It was what (Jordan) told him (that drove him).... He's a psycho."
The next game they played each other, Kobe Bryant scored 42 points in the first 24 minutes, 2 quarters against 40 year old Michael Jordan. He ended up with 55 points that entire game, and supposedly, that's when Kobe showed Jordan that they're both psychotic when it comes to this game.
