"Since I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that maintaining your body is the most important thing, and stretching out and my nutrition are the biggest parts of that. It makes me feel like I’m much younger when I’m on the court. When you’re young, 21 years old, you can get out of shape and then you just get right back. When you get older, you have to work at it.”
Who could be the one to have made this very good statement? The one and only, Chris Paul. The man whose career has unfortunately had many hiccups during his career due to injuries. Often, players are quite incredible to make it to the NBA, but it's completely normal for some of them to have weaknesses in their game, of course, such as untrustworthy free throw percentage, high amounts of turnovers, or selfishness with the basketball. That hasn't been the case for Chris during his career as he's excelled in every facet of the game whether it has to do with shooting, sharing the rock, keeping his turnovers to a very low degree, and playing very solid defense. His one issue has always been injuries, which are not an easy weakness to put to the side. In regards to preparing his body, Chris has taken pride in foam rolling, stretching, recovery, and working out. Chris now realizes he has to do everything in his control to have his body ready to play and he has made it his responsibility to change his body.
In the year 2019, Paul had been on the documentary The Game Changers, a provocative film, which discussed the "dangers of carnivorous eating practices"—and how much plant-based can help one's body. As a contestant, Paul was desperate for help regarding his diet. So Chris Paul ultimately decided he must give up meat from his diet, and I don't think he regrets it at all. He has simply been more available as a player, he hasn't missed as many games as he used to, and he is not slowing down anytime soon.
Post-Game meal: “After every game, Chris will have a Beyond Burger. Athletes are starving after they get done playing and that’s when they’re most susceptible to eat something they’ll regret the next day.”
(0:44 seconds)This point made by Chris Paul is so tough to watch and it brings up the idea that Chris wishes his body during Houston was what it is now. That is quite a painful idea to think about, coming from a Houston Rockets fan. Imagine if the man that dedicates everything he does to his body such as foam rolling, stretching, dieting, and workout regime was playing in Houston. He has gone from Houston to Oklahoma to Phoenix, where he has played all 70 games during both seasons. He may be 36 years old, close to retiring, but his body may say otherwise.
